OnePlus 7T gains 960fps slo-mo and 4K ultra-wide recording in Open Beta 3

In the latest build of OnePlus’ Oxygen OS Open Beta for the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro, a couple of new changes to the camera were added that enable a couple of new video recording modes. While the official changelog was posted over at the OnePlus Forums, it didn’t make mention of these new video modes.

The feature was first discovered by Reddit user sneakerspark and this screenshot was posted to that thread. Others chimes in confirming the ultrawide camera’s addition of a 4K recording option.

Oxygen OS Open Beta 3 for both the 7T and 7T Pro have enabled 960fps slo-mo at 720p resolution. Currently, all OnePlus devices since the OnePlus 6 Pro can only record at 480fps at the same resolution. Since neither the ultrawide or main 48MP sensors on the 7T have the hardware needed to record at 960fps, the additional frames are interpolated from 480fps.

The other addition is an option to record 4K video using the ultrawide camera. Neither the OnePlus 7 Pro, nor the OnePlus 7T offered this feature, but the 7 Pro was updated to unlock the new recording resolution with the ultrawide camera – it just took a while before the 7T would be updated for the same feature.

There’s still no word from OnePlus as to when these features would arrive in official the official builds of Oxygen OS – it hasn’t even mentioned them in the changelog.

Vivo X50 5G Lunch Set for June 1 in China

Chinese smartphone giant Vivo will be launching the ‘Vivo X50 5G’ on the 1st of June in China. The announcement was made via Vivo’s official Weibo handle. As the name suggests, the device will come with support for 5G connectivity.

Vivo X50 teaser video posted on Weibo suggests that the device will pack noteworthy cameras with support for stabilization better than OIS. Rather than being a phone with mere OIS support, this device is expected to have a gimbal-like stabilized antishake camera similar to what we have seen this February on the Vivo Apex 2020 concept phone.

Yesterday, an alleged image of the Vivo X50 was also shared on Weibo, revealing a rectangular camera setup on the rear and a punch-hole camera for selfies placed to the left of the front.

Meanwhile, Arun Maini aka Mrwhosetheboss also posted a strikingly similar teaser on his Twitter account. The GIF below shows off the camera capabilities of an upcoming Vivo flagship smartphone. Chances are, the camera sensor seen in the tweet below belongs to the Vivo X50 5G.

Apart from all these, there is no concrete information about the specifications of the handset. Provided Vivo is positioning the device in the flagship territory, it won’t come as a surprise if the device packs the Snapdragon 865 chipset and similar powerful hardware seen on other flagships.https://www.youtube.com/embed/jahobfzV_zY?feature=oembed

That said, we should expect more teasers and leaks for the Vivo X50 5G in the coming days now that the launch date is confirmed. We will be keeping an eye out for them, so stay tuned for more updates.
